WTO : Attempts to bring in "responsible" consensus in MC13 ADMD (PRIV)

Several developing countries on 8 February seem to have fiercely opposed moves by major industrialized countries to br ing "responsible" or "flexible" consensus into the Abu Dhabi Ministerial Declar ation (ADMD), in an apparent attempt to jettison the core principles of the WTO's Marrakesh Agreement that calls for consensus-based decision-making, said people familiar with the discussions.

Urgent reforms are needed to the global debt architecture to avert a widespread debt crisis among developing countries, according to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

UN : US urged to review its designation of States as sponsors of terrorism (PRIV)

A group of United Nations experts on 8 Febru ary urged the United States to review its domestic framework that triggers spec ific sanctions against States designated as Sponsors of Terrorism (SST).
