The World Trade Organization's 13th ministerial conference (MC13), to be held in Abu Dhabi from 26 February, is seemingly turning into an event for "kicking the can down the road" on seve ral vital issues agreed at the trade body's 12th ministerial conference (MC12) held in Geneva in July 2022, said people familiar with the development.

Banks' cross-border claims rose by $801 bill ion in the third quarter (Q3) of 2023 to reach $38 trillion, driven by derivatives valuations and increased cross-border bank credit (loans plus holdings of d ebt securities), according to the Bank for International Settlements (BIS).

Finance : US dollar credit to EMDEs continues to decline, says BIS (PRIV)

While US dollar-denominated foreign currency credit saw an up-tick in Q3 2023, US dollar credit to emerging market and developing economies (EMDEs) in particular continued to decline, the Bank f or International Settlements (BIS) has said.
