The prospects for restoring the World Tra de Organization's two-tier dispute settlement system (DSS), with the Appellate Body being the final adjudicating body, seem rather bleak at the upcoming WTO's 13th ministerial conference (MC13) that gets underway in Abu Dhabi on 26 Februar y.

Amid a regional economic slowdown starting in 2022, the labour markets of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) performed worse in the first half of 2023 than they had in 2021 and 2022, according t o a joint United Nations report.

The Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) regio n is projected to grow by 2.2% on average in 2023 and 1.9% in 2024, pointing to a deceleration in regional growth from the levels seen in 2022, according to the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC).
