UN : Sudan facing a looming food crisis due to conflict, economic turmoil (PRIV)

A record 11.7 million people in Sudan are expected to be facing acute hunger at the height of the lean season in September, an increase of nearly 2 million people compared with the same period last year, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has warned.

Parties to the UNFCCC adopted conclusions on the mitigation work programme (MWP) after much wrangle at the recently held 56th session of the UNFCCC's Subsidiary Bodies (SB 56) in Bonn, Germany that took place from 6-16 June.
