With 250 million people surviving on fishing and fishing-related activities across the developing and least-developed countries, the need for robust special and differential treatment (S&DT) provisions in the draft Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies (AoFS) appears to have become the main issue in the battle at the World Trade Organization between the developing countries and the big subsidizers, said people familiar with the discussions.
