Trade : South unlikely to secure credible outcomes on agriculture at MC12 (PRIV)

As the United States and the European Union appear to oppose any outcomes in the agricultural package at the upcoming World Trade Organization's 12th ministerial conference (MC12), the developing countries may suffer yet another blow in their attempts to secure any credible decisions in the mandated areas of their core interests, said people familiar with the development.

UN : UNCTAD-15 closes after adopting a covenant & political declaration (PRIV)

The fifteenth quadrennial session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD-15) concluded on 7 October after adopting its political declaration, known as the "Spirit of Speightstown", as well as the "Bridgetown Covenant", a roadmap that amongst others underscores the need to re-invigorate and re-vitalize UNCTAD's intergovernmental mechanism.

United States : Stop calling the military budget a "defense" budget (PRIV)

It's bad enough that mainstream news outlets routinely call the Pentagon budget a "defense" budget.
