United Nations : HRC establishes expert mechanism to examine systemic racism (PRIV)

The UN Human Rights Council on 13 July decided to establish an international independent expert mechanism to amongst others examine systemic racism faced by Africans and people of African descent, as well as the excessive use of force and other violations of international human rights law against Africans and people of African descent by law enforcement officials.

Trade : Attempts to deny S&DT to South in fisheries subsidies disciplines (PRIV)

The chair of the Doha Rules negotiations, Ambassador Santiago Wills from Colombia, has issued a clarification concerning the two questions posed to trade ministers to address on the proposed disciplines on fisheries subsidies during the virtual meeting on 15 July.

Trade : African Group exposes damage caused by trade-distorting farm subsidies (PRIV)

The African Group has highlighted the damage caused by the European Union, the United States, Japan, Switzerland, and Canada among others through their billions of dollars of most trade- distorting domestic farm subsidies.
