The WTO director-general Ms Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala's much touted meeting on addressing "equitable distribution of COVID-19 vaccines" brought sharply differing perspectives to the fore on various issues, including the role of IPRs and the need to finalize a decision on the temporary TRIPS waiver in ramping up global production of vaccines for combating the worsening pandemic that has claimed more than 2.9 million lives, said people familiar with the proceedings.
