United Nations : Food commodity prices rise for tenth straight month (PRIV)

The international prices of a basket of key agricultural food commodities rose for the tenth consecutive month in March, mainly driven by vegetable oils and dairy products, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has said.

Ministers from the BASIC countries (Brazil, South Africa, India and China), at their 30th meeting held virtually on 7-8 April, highlighted that the key outcomes of the UNFCCC's 26th Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 26) would be to conclude negotiations on Article 6 of the Paris Agreement (PA), launch the operationalization of the global goal on adaptation (GGA), and achieve progress on climate finance.

UN : Palestinians suffering from hunger, poverty, conflict & a global pandemic (PRIV)

The Trump administration's decision to cut off assistance to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) caused considerable hardship for Palestinian refugees during the coronavirus pandemic, particularly those in Gaza where a majority of the population are refugees and poverty is rampant due to Israel's blockade, Khaled Elgindy, a Senior Fellow at the Middle East Institute (MEI), told IPS.
