The United States and China appeared to be dragging each other into another round of trade conflict on 14 October, with US President Donald Trump threatening that the US is "considering terminating business with China having to do with Cooking Oil, and other elements of Trade, as retribution."

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) on 14 October warned that with fewer than three months left in the year, its 2025 appeal to meet global humanitarian needs is less than a quarter funded.
