Trade : EC President calls for new coalition with CPTPP, bypassing WTO (PRIV)

In her "2025 State of the Union Address" on 10 September, the European Commission President, Ms. Ursula von der Leyen, announced that Brussels will build "a coalition of like-minded countries to reform the global trading system -like the CPTPP [Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership]", but not the World Trade Organization.

Trade : US courts India, but pushes EU to hit India, China with 100% tariff (PRIV)

United States President Donald Trump on 9 September extended a proverbial olive branch to India, announcing that "India and the United States of America are continuing negotiations to address the Trade Barriers between our two Nations."

UN : $139.6 million emergency appeal for earthquake-hit Afghanistan (PRIV)

The United Nations has launched a four-month emergency response plan seeking US$139.6 million for Afghanistan so that humanitarian organizations can render aid to 457,000 people affected by last week's devastating earthquake that hit the eastern region of the country.
