WTO : Two panels established, US again blocks AB appointments (PRIV)

For the 88th time, the United States on 23 June blocked a joint proposal submitted by Colombia on behalf of 130 countries at the World Trade Organization (WTO) for expeditiously filling all seven vacancies at the WTO's Appellate Body (AB), thus continuing to perpetuate a systemic crisis in the resolution of global trade disputes, said people familiar with the development.

Climate : Global goal on adaptation advances work on indicators (PRIV)

In contrast to the delayed start of the climate talks under the UNFCCC's Subsidiary Bodies (SBs) in Bonn, Germany, work on adaptation started off from the get-go with the mandated event of the Global Goal on Adaptation (GGA) workshop under the United Arab Emirates-Belem work programme (UBWP), which took place for a full day on 16 June.

Countries shared their views on what it would take to make the "Mitigation Work Programme" (MWP) a "safe space for overcoming barriers and take actionable solutions", in the first two informal consultations held on 18 and 19 June, at the on-going Bonn climate talks, scheduled to end on 26 June.
