WTO : India opposes inclusion of IFDA in trade & development agenda (PRIV)

India on 18 June seemingly opposed the inclusion of the proposed Investment Facilitation for Development Agreement (IFDA) on the agenda of the World Trade Organization's Doha negotiating body on trade and development, leading to the removal of the item for discussion from the agenda, said people familiar with the development.

The first week of informal consultations on the Just Transition Work Programme (JTWP) under the UNFCCC's Subsidiary Bodies (SBs) in Bonn, Germany began with numerous proposals from developing countries on actionable outcomes, amidst continuous attempts from developed countries to limit and block these proposals from advancing the work programme.

The decision by the government of the United States to freeze or discontinue aid programmes, together with several public announcements by European governments to reduce aid, has created a significant disruption in the aid ecosystem as well as the national health systems, the World Health Organization (WHO) has warned.
