Sudan : More help needed to prevent famine amid funding shortfalls - WFP (PRIV)

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has appealed for more funding to stop famine in the hardest-hit areas of war-torn Sudan, as immediate needs are fast outpacing the funding that the UN agency has received to date.

Haiti is entering the hurricane season this year with no emergency stockpile to mount a timely and effective response, amid a lack of funding, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

World cereal production is expected to reach a record 2,911 million tonnes in 2025, surpassing the 2024 output by 2.1 percent, according to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
