Trade : WTO's GC meet to "name and shame" US over unilateral tariffs (PRIV)

The World Trade Organization's General Council (GC) meeting, to be held on 20-21 May, is set to discuss several rather thorny issues including proposals that seek to "name and shame" the United States over its imposition of unilateral tariffs against members in alleged violation of the WTO's core principles.

Trade : US threatens tariffs on countries failing to negotiate in "good faith" (PRIV)

The Trump administration has seemingly threatened countries that if they do not "negotiate in good faith", they could face the stated level of reciprocal tariffs that was announced by US President Donald Trump on 2 April, the US Treasury Secretary suggested on 18 May.

UN : Over 295 million in 53 countries facing high levels of acute hunger (PRIV)

In 2024, 295.3 million people across 53 countries and territories faced high levels of acute food insecurity, an increase of 13.7 million from 2023, and marking the sixth consecutive annual increase, according to the Global Report on Food Crises (GRFC).
