Trade : US and China to hold talks in Switzerland on lowering trade tensions (PRIV)

The United States and China are expected to hold talks in Switzerland later this week to explore the possibility of whether the two sides could commence the process of lowering the tensions in the tariff and trade war launched by United States President Donald Trump against China, which has been aggressively targeted on several fronts, said people familiar with the development.

India and the United Kingdom on 6 May finalized a much-delayed bilateral free trade agreement (FTA), with the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi claiming it as a "historic milestone" while his British counterpart Keir Starmer touted it as a "landmark deal", amidst claims of potential gains worth billions of dollars.

UN : UNHCR appeals for $781 million as Congolese refugee numbers soar (PRIV)

UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, and its 107 partners have appealed for $781 million to continue providing urgent and life-saving support in 2025 to more than 1 million refugees and asylum- seekers fleeing the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) to neighbouring countries as well as over 1 million people in local communities across seven countries.
