Trade : Trump threatens 200% tariff on EU alcohol for Brussels' retaliation (PRIV)

United States President Donald Trump on 13 March threatened the European Union that he would shortly impose a 200% tariff on all wines and spirits coming from the EU member states in retaliation for Brussels' tariffs of 50% on American bourbon whiskey, a seemingly worsening trade war that could cause a recession followed by depression if countries do not "toughen up" against Washington, according to media reports.

A group of United Nations human rights experts has expressed alarm at the unprecedented food security crisis that is worsening an already devastating human rights situation in Myanmar, where more than 19.9 million people are currently in need of humanitarian assistance.

UN : Global wheat production to see a modest rise this year, says FAO (PRIV)

The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has forecast a modest increase in global wheat production in 2025, with world output projected at 796 million tonnes, largely driven by expected production gains in the European Union, particularly in France and Germany.
