WTO : WB chief economist pitches for investment at development retreat (PRIV)

At a day-long retreat on "development" held at the Hilton Hotel in Geneva on 16 January, the World Bank (WB)'s chief economist urged the trade envoys of the World Trade Organization to consider the issue of investment, arguing that it is the other side of the trade coin, said people familiar with the development.

UN : Global FDI at a crossroads, falling by 8% in 2024, says UNCTAD (PRIV)

Global foreign direct investment (FDI) rose by 11% to reach $1.4 trillion in 2024 but fell by 8% when excluding flows through European conduit economies, according to UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

UN : Massive displacement as violence escalates in eastern DRC (PRIV)

UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, has expressed alarm over the worsening violence in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), which it said has already displaced 237,000 people this year.
