UN : Re-branding UNCTAD as UN Trade and Development "flawed" (PRIV)

A senior official of the United Nations i n New York on 21 November disapproved of the decision by UNCTAD Secretary-General, Ms Rebeca Grynspan, to re-brand the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) as "UN Trade and Development", said people familiar with the development.

The United States on 25 November objected to the European Union's request at the World Trade Organization for authorization to impose retaliatory duties of approximately $35 million ann ually over the alleged failure of the US to fully implement an earlier panel ruli ng against Washington's imposition of anti-dumping and countervailing duties o n ripe olives from Spain, said people familiar with the development.
