GC chair's agenda to secure a second term for DG depends on US (PRIV)

The chair of the World Trade Organization 's General Council, Ambassador Petter Olberg of Norway, on 18 November announced the agenda for a special General Council (GC) meeting to decide o n a second term for the sole candidate, the incumbent Director-General, Ms Ngoz i Okonjo-Iweala, but it is not certain that it would be "plain sailing", as t he United States could still turn the scales one way or the other, said people famili ar with the process.

The UNFCCC's Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI) and the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) concluded their work at the 61st session in Baku, Azerbaijan, on 16 November and transmitted the result s of their work on some key agenda items to COP29 and the 6th session of the Conference of the Parties to the Paris Agreement (CMA6).
