WTO : US to "name and shame" India over subsidies to rice and wheat (PRIV)

The United States along with other farm-exporting countries appear to be preparing the ground to "name and sha me" China and India at an upcoming meeting of the World Trade Organization's Committee on Agriculture (CoA) on 25 November over their alleged subsidy violations involving several farm products, said people familiar with the development.

Negotiations on the Pathogen Access and Benefit Sharing (PABS) system made little progress during the first wee k of negotiations as developed countries continued to insist on unacceptable tex t, including text that calls into question the World Health Organization (WHO) 's role in the administration of the PABS system.

Trade-restrictive measures introduced by G2 0 economies increased significantly over the past year, amid "increasing evid ence of inward-looking and unilateral trade policy decisions", according to the Wor ld Trade Organization (WTO).
