WTO : Is General Council chair compromising selection process of next DG? (PRIV)

Without a formal decision by members of th e World Trade Organization, the Norwegian chair of the WTO's General Council (GC) has announced "the process of the appointment of the next Director-General" starting from 8 October, in an alleged move to ensure tha t the incumbent DG, Ms Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, secures a second term without a fight , said people familiar with the development.

A "non-paper" on pandemic prevention and surveillance circulated at the 11th meeting of the WHO Intergovernmenta l Negotiating Body (INB) on the pandemic instrument lacks vision and contribu tes to fragmentation of the global health emergency architecture.

UN : Urgent attention needed to address displacement, insecurity in Haiti (PRIV)

UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, on 4 October called for increased and urgent attention, support, and solutions for Haiti ans affected by violence and insecurity, including those who have been forcibly displaced.
