World leaders gathering at the UN headquart ers in New York on 22 September pledged to take action to "strengthen and reinvigorate multilateralism and deepen international cooperation", in orde r to tackle present and future challenges.

The UN World Food Programme (WFP) has called on world leaders attending the UN General Assembly in New York to gi ve the "humanitarian catastrophe" in war-torn Sudan the attention it requires.
