The chair of the World Trade Organization 's General Council (GC) on 23 September claimed that his consultations with members so far shows "overwhelming support to commence the appointment process" of the incumbent Director-General, Ms Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

WTO : Meetings continue on appeal/review, no clarity on binding AB (PRIV)

The co-convenors overseeing the discussio ns on the appeal/review mechanism under the ambit of reforming the World Trade Organization's dispute settlement system plan to focus on several controver sial issues on 24 September, including members' expectations of adjudicators, in an alleged move to address the concerns raised by one major member, said peopl e familiar with the discussions.

Trade : Dispute panel set to examine US green subsidies at WTO (PRIV)

The World Trade Organization's Dispute Settlement Body (DSB) on 23 September agreed to establish a panel, at the request of China, to rule on certain tax credits being provided by the Bide n administration under the US Inflation Reduction Act, which China claims allegedly violate the WTO rules governing subsidies and countervailing meas ures.
