Trade : WTO's enforcement function unlikely to stop unilateral trade measure s (PRIV)

As experts on 9 September take a first loo k at the draft proposals contained in the "WTO confidential" document aimed at resurrecting an appeal/review mechanism at the World Trade Organization, th e multilateral trade body's enforcement function is unlikely to stop the impo sition of unilateral trade measures based on national security considerations, said p eople familiar with the development.

UN : Global food prices fall marginally in August, says FAO (PRIV)

The international prices of a basket of key agricultural food commodities fell marginally in August, as decreases in th e prices for sugar, meat and cereals outweighed increases in those for vegetable oil s and dairy products, according to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) .

UN : Global cereal production in 2024 to be on par with 2023 output - FAO (PRIV)

The UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has trimmed its forecast for world cereal production in 2024, on acco unt of reduced harvest expectations for coarse grains, including maize, primarily due to hot and dry weather conditions in the European Union, Mexico and Ukraine.
