WTO : Draft on appeal/review mechanism appears "palatable" for one member (PRIV)

A confidential draft on "Appeal/Review tab les" issued by the facilitator overseeing the World Trade Organization's dispute settlement system reform process appears to fundamentally alter the two-tie r system while making it "palatable" for a major industrialized country that does not want a binding Appellate Body because it ruled against several trade measur es adopted by that country over the last two decades, said several people fami liar with the development.

UN : $100 million allocated for 10 under-funded crisis hotspots (PRIV)

In light of the continued grim outlook for g lobal funding, the United Nations on 30 August released US$100 million from its Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) to address the critical under-fundin g of humanitarian emergencies across 10 countries in Africa, the Americas, As ia and the Middle East.
