Refugees and migrants continue to experienc e "unimaginable horrors" including extreme forms of violence, human rights violations and exploitation, not just at sea but also along the land routes extending across the African continent, and towards the shores of the Mediterranean S ea and onward to Europe, according to United Nations agencies.
