The new chair of the World Trade Organization's Committee on Trade and Environment (CTE) on 12 June shared ideas on how to advance thematic sessions on a few topics in the rather com plex and controversial arena of trade and climate change, including trade-relate d climate measures, where there is no clear mandate from the recent WTO's 13t h ministerial conference (MC13) in Abu Dhabi, said people familiar with the development.

Forced displacement surged to historic new levels across the globe both in 2023 and this year, with overall numbers ri sing to 120 million by May 2024, said UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency.

UN : 1,000 days of education lost for Afghan girls, says UNICEF (PRIV)

The Executive Director of the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF), Catherine Russell, said on 13 June that it has been 1,000 da ys since the announcement by the Taliban banning girls in Afghanistan from attending secondary schools.
