Trade : EU initiates compliance proceedings in frozen fries dispute (PRIV)

The European Union has requested consultatio ns with Colombia over its alleged failure to comply with an earlier WTO panel ruling and arbitration award concerning anti-dumping duties that it imposed on imports of frozen fries originating in Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany .

UN : Global public debt surges, driven by cascading crises (PRIV)

Global public debt, comprising domestic and external general government debt, reached an alarming US$97 trillion in 202 3, a US$5.6 trillion increase from 2022, according to UN Trade and Development (formerly known as UNCTAD).

UN : Global refugee resettlement needs rise to nearly 3 million next year (PRIV)

Approximately 2.9 million refugees will need resettlement in 2025, an increase of 20 per cent - equivalent to half a mil lion refugees - compared with 2024, and more than double compared to 2021, according to UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency.
