WTO : Australia, US launch counter-notification over India's sugar subsidies (PRIV)

Australia and the United States on 6 May jointly filed a counter-notification against India's alleged support for su garcane and its sugar policies at the World Trade Organization, even as the matter remains sub judice after New Delhi had appealed the panel report on this issue befo re the Appellate Body in December 2021, said people familiar with the development.

UN : Global food prices up marginally in April, driven by high meat prices (PRIV)

The international prices of a basket of key agricultural food commodities rose marginally in April, as higher prices of meat, cereals and vegetable oils offset drops in prices for dairy products and su gar, according to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

World cereal production is forecast to rise by 5 million tonnes in 2023/24 and now stands at 2,846 million tonnes, up 1.2 pe rcent (35.1 million tonnes) from the previous year's level, the UN Food and Agric ulture Organization (FAO) has said.
