URUGUAY FINANCE AND ECONOMY MINISTER TO CHAIR TNC.

GENEVA, JULY 27 (IFDA) -- The Minister for Economy and Finance of Uruguay, Ricardo Zerbino Cavajani, has been named as chairman of the Uruguay Round trade Negotiations Committee (TNC) to succeed Enrique Iglesias.

The TNC took this decision at its meeting last night.

Iglesias, who chaired the Committee as foreign Minister of Uruguay, has now remitted that office, having taken over at the Inter-American Development Bank.

In other decisions, the TNC also agreed on the timetable and other arrangements for the Ministerial level meeting to be held in Montreal in December.

The meeting is now expected to be opened formally on the morning of December 5 by the Prime Minister of Canada.

However, the TNC could meet earlier, as needed, at Geneva at official level, prior to the Montreal meeting.
