U.S. AND EC TO THRASH OUT OILSEED ISSUE THIS WEEKEND.

BRUSSELS, OCTOBER 7 (IPS) -- U.S. Farm Secretary Ed Madigan and U.S. Trade Representative Carla Hills, are due in Brussels this weekend to try and settle one way or another the onloing trade battles with the European Community (EC).

And based on comments made by EC officials in Brussels on Wednesday, it would appear that Europe will not give an inch, unless the United States is itself willing to make concessions as far as the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) is concerned.
