WTO : US adopts "hegemonic" position against ruling on security exceptions (PRIV)

After losing a major trade dispute at the World Trade Organization on 21 December over the imposition of origin marking requirements on imports of goods from Hong Kong, China, the United States appears to have adopted a rather "hegemonic" position in that it will never implement the panel ruling.

A dispute panel at the World Trade Organization has ruled that a requirement applied by the United States that imported goods produced in Hong Kong, China be marked to indicate that their origin is "China" is inconsistent with its WTO obligations.
