Trade : WTO DG suffers setback on agriculture retreat (PRIV)

The World Trade Organization's Director-General, Ms Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has apparently suffered a huge setback, at a retreat held at the WTO on 24 October, over her alleged plans to "reset" the agenda for the Doha agriculture negotiations by bringing in issues concerning climate change and "sustainability" based on trans-Atlantic trade proposals, said people familiar with the development.

An estimated 10.6 million people fell ill with tuberculosis in 2021, an increase of 4.5% from 10.1 million in 2020, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

Held in-person for the first time in three years, the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank last week in Washington, DC failed to offer solutions to the dozens of developing countries in debt distress or on the forewarned global recession instigated by monetary tightening.
