Trade : WTO DG's funding mechanism on fisheries fails to address core issues (PRIV)

Without addressing the structural imbalances and asymmetries in the chair's draft consolidated text on fisheries subsidies, the WTO director-general Ms Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is rushing to create a "WTO funding mechanism" for providing technical assistance and capacity-building in implementing controversial fisheries management schemes in the developing and least-developed countries, said people familiar with the development.

Women's employment worldwide declined by 4.2 per cent between 2019 and 2020, representing a drop of 54 million jobs, while men's employment declined by 3 per cent, or 60 million jobs, according to the International Labour Organization (ILO).

UN : Members of probe appointed to investigate violations in Palestine & Israel (PRIV)

The President of the United Nations Human Rights Council on 22 July announced the appointment of the three members of the commission of inquiry set up to investigate all alleged violations and abuses of human rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and in Israel, leading up to and since 13 April 2021.
