Trade : South Africa, India call for development-oriented approach to e-com (PRIV)

South Africa and India have stepped up their efforts at the WTO for creating multilateral momentum in "promoting an inclusive development-oriented approach to electronic commerce", in what appears to be an attempt to counter the informal plurilateral Joint Statement Initiative (JSI) talks that seek to safeguard hundreds of billions of dollars of profits of Google, Amazon, Facebook, Apple, and Microsoft among others, analysts said.

The 15th Conference of the Parties (COP) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), which was meant to meet this year to adopt a new "Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF)," has been postponed to 2021, so it is timely to take stock of the state of play of the negotiations.
