Trade : World merchandise trade to fall by 9.2% this year, says WTO (PRIV)

 World merchandise trade in volume terms is forecast to fall by 9.2% in 2020, followed by a rise of 7.2% in 2021, the World Trade Organization (WTO) has said.

 The chair of the WTO General Council, Ambassador David Walker from New Zealand, has informed members that he would announce on 8 October the results of his second round of consultations for choosing the new director-general, with two candidates from the slate of five to be declared as the finalists.

Malawi : Poverty, official complicity hampers human trafficking fight (PRIV)

 In August, police intercepted the trafficking of 31 people to Mozambique. The victims, all Malawians, included 17 children and 6 women.
