WTO : GC chair convenes special meeting to appoint DG for second term (PRIV)

The chair of the World Trade Organization 's General Council (GC), Ambassador Petter Olberg of Norway, is convening a special General Council meeting on 28-29 November to "take a decision on th e appointment" of the incumbent Director-General for a second term, even thou gh he has not sought formal approval of the members on advancing the selection process at any GC meeting, said people familiar with the development.

Climate : Call for new finance goal of at least $1.3 trillion per year (PRIV)

Developing countries, led by the G77 and Chin a, have called for the new collective quantified goal on finance (NCQG) "to be ambitious and to be an amount of at least USD 1.3 trillion per year from developed to developing countries with a significant provision component fo r adaptation, mitigation, and loss and damage."

COP16 : Biodiversity talks ran out of time; some key decisions deferred (PRIV)
