World food commodity prices surged to their highest level in 18 months in October, led by a sharp rise in prices of veg etable oils, according to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FA O).

UN : Reduced maize harvest drives modest decline in global cereal output (PRIV)

The UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has forecast global cereal production in 2024 at 2,848 million tonnes , marginally down (0.4 percent) from the previous year, though still the seco nd largest output on record.
