World merchandise trade is expected to fall by between 13% and 32% in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the World Trade Organization (WTO) said on Wednesday.

Several developing countries remain sharply concerned over the options proposed by the Chair of the Doha Agriculture negotiating body, Ambassador John Deep Ford from Guyana, due to the serious consequences for their core interests in global farm trade, trade envoys told the SUNS.

Labour : COVID-19 to wipe out 6.7% of working hours globally (PRIV)

The COVID-19 pandemic is expected to result in a decline of 6.7 per cent in working hours globally in the second quarter of 2020, equivalent to 195 million full-time workers, according to the International Labour Organization (ILO).
