Global foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows increased by 16 per cent to reach $1.5 trillion in 2011, exceeding the 2005-2007 pre-crisis average for the first time, but a resurgence in economic uncertainty and the possibility of lower growth rates in major emerging markets risk undercutting this favourable trend this year.
